In May 2006 I began a simple mission to complete 101 preset tasks in 1001 days. You can see my effort by clicking here. I tweaked the list a couple of times when my situation changed making some tasks obsolete. But mostly the list stayed the same, it was me who was changing. As the days marched toward 1001 I realized a lot of the things left on the list really didn’t matter to me anymore. I crossed quite a few things off that list before I abandoned it, so I do believe there is power in making the list. I think it’s important to write things down, hopes, dreams, goals, etc. So today, I’m starting again with a new list, a life list for lack of better terminology. It isn’t 101 things, I’m not limited to 1001 days, but these are some things I really want to accomplish and I will work toward that goal. I’ll start with the things I still hope to accomplish off the old list and then add and cross off this one as life happens. So in no particular order:
- Get a passport Received June 2, 2009
- Write a novel length manuscript.
- Write a play.
- Celebrate with a glass of Dom Perignon.
- Attend the Toronto International Film Festival.
- Attend Harbourfront Festival of Authors.
- See a Broadway play.
- Take a writers retreat/workshop abroad in Europe.
- Go to Ireland.
- Go to Italy.
- Take a writers retreat/ workshop on the west coast of Canada.
- Go camping.
- Take a long distance trip by train.
- Pay off credit card debt.
- Get a bicycle.
- Go on a cruise.
- Go down a size in clothing.
- Get a writing grant.
- Go swimming in a bathing suit.
- Go tobogganing or sliding.
- Develop and maintain some kind of regular exercise regimen.
- Make more money.
- Get paid to do a public reading.
- Launch a book.
- Get a grant to go someplace to speak or teach.
