My boyfriend bought me the juicer I wanted for my birthday and yesterday it shipped from Amazon! The more I read (and since getting a Kindle, I am reading A LOT!) the more I think a juicer will be very helpful for my Plant Strong lifestyle.
I have detoxed before, specifically with what I call the Brown Rice detox, but I have never done a juice detox, and I am not a fan of drinking my food.
I like water, wine, coffee, tea, the occasional beer and speciality cocktail, and even rarer still a chocolate milkshake or iced coffee. I have never been big on the smoothie, never been crazy about juice … or even soup! Continue reading “Countdown to Plant Strong”
I am many weeks over due for an update. I was very sick for a bit, thought I was well again but relapsed. All together I was severely ill for 6-8 weeks. MUCH too long! But I have been recovered for one full week and a day now. The thing about being sick for so long is that you fall behind on things. Not just your 9-5 pay cheque work, but also the cleaning and other chores that normally keep your household running smoothly, books you’re reading, television series you’re watching, exercise you planned to get, diets you should have been following, and everything else that you can’t do while you lay in bed dozing in and out of sleep.
Yes, I may have lingered in bed until 10:30 this morning but then I got up and threw in a load of laundry. Today I feel better. Today I will do all the things I wanted to do all week but was too weak and sick to accomplish. Today I will go outside and go shopping for food and stuff. Today I will clean up this damn pig sty. Today I will cook a decent meal.
This morning I feel about 50% better than I did yesterday. I actually got out of bed when I woke up at 7:30 am on my own, no alarm. All week I have been lying in bed until 10, 11, or even 12 before I would try to get around. And the getting around consisted of doing the bare minimum for work, then on to the couch for another lie down.
But this morning I have laundry on the go, an open suitcase ready to pack, a sink full of dishes ready to wash, and a detailed list in my day planner of things I must do today. I’m already on my second cup of coffee. And it is splendid! These PC pods are my usual brand. I started buying them initially because they were cheaper than any others, but now they cost just as much as anything else unless they go on sale. I prefer the Sumatran, which is a darker roast. The boyfriend prefers the Columbian, which is a very light roast. So we both can get along with the Costa Rican, which is somewhere in the middle. These pods also don’t use the plastic cups, which makes me feel a bit better environmentally. The reason I do the Keurig thing is so that I won’t drink as much coffee. I used to brew a pot and drink a pot … 12 cups … not good. With the Keurig I will only have one or two cups and they are smaller cups than what I would pour myself out of a pot. Next week my sister and I have a plan to get back on track. We’re going to start walking after work and return to SparkPeople to start tracking our eating and exercise. Just in time for this lifestyle challenge, I received my first package from the Product Review Club at ChickAdvisor. And look what it is! That is five meal replacement bars and 20 energy capsules. This could be a nice boost to my first week. Things I normally would never purchase for myself in a million years, but now I get to try them out for free. And maybe if I like them, I will become a customer. All I have to do is review them on the website within two weeks. I am excited to do that! Continue reading “Chick Sparking”
Well what a week it has been! We worked a lot, putting together a whole magazine for publication starting on Monday and ending late Thursday evening. That is some kind of record for us and just goes to show what we are capable of doing when we apply ourselves. On top of that I have been cooking, tracking my food, repeating positive affirmations, listening to guided meditations morning and night, and best of all I went to see my osteopath. It was the most amazing experience ever and I don’t need to return for any further appointments!
On Tuesday it was goal setting day at my work but I didn’t go because I was just too wiped out from the travel storm stuck fiasco to get my head on straight enough to attend. Even though I didn’t go I wanted to do the exercise so I did it on my own at home. I think goal setting is extremely important and I’ve been doing it a long time. I think a lot of the good things that I like about myself have come about as a result of making goals and then achieving them.
