My boyfriend bought me the juicer I wanted for my birthday and yesterday it shipped from Amazon! The more I read (and since getting a Kindle, I am reading A LOT!) the more I think a juicer will be very helpful for my Plant Strong lifestyle.
I have detoxed before, specifically with what I call the Brown Rice detox, but I have never done a juice detox, and I am not a fan of drinking my food.
I like water, wine, coffee, tea, the occasional beer and speciality cocktail, and even rarer still a chocolate milkshake or iced coffee. I have never been big on the smoothie, never been crazy about juice … or even soup! Continue reading “Countdown to Plant Strong”
Next week my sister and I have a plan to get back on track. We’re going to start walking after work and return to SparkPeople to start tracking our eating and exercise. Just in time for this lifestyle challenge, I received my first package from the Product Review Club at ChickAdvisor. And look what it is! That is five meal replacement bars and 20 energy capsules. This could be a nice boost to my first week. Things I normally would never purchase for myself in a million years, but now I get to try them out for free. And maybe if I like them, I will become a customer. All I have to do is review them on the website within two weeks. I am excited to do that! Continue reading “Chick Sparking”
I weighed in this morning and I am down 2 pounds! This puts me right on target for my goals. I am pretty happy with that, really didn’t know how it was going to shake down the first week given that I was challenged to find a good nutrition balance, not eating enough some days, totally gorging on empty calories others, and not incorporating any kind of fitness into the mix. So yeah, go Me! I am pleased!
I haven’t written in awhile. I hurt my arm in January. At first I thought it was just a sore muscle (I had used the Wii Fit and done some tricky yoga poses). But it has turned out to be something more serious. A frozen shoulder, apparently. I have had one appointment with an osteopath and I have another scheduled later this week. She helped immensely for a couple of days about a month ago. I am very much in need of a break from the pain, so even if I only get a few days respite again, it is well worth the expense.
I kind of feel like I’ve been losing my mind. Again. Still? I don’t know if it’s just the constant physical agony, the long depressing winter that doesn’t ever seem to end here, or what. But something has got to give. I can’t continue this way. I have been very depressed. I have gained 40 pounds since this time last year, 30 of those just since Christmas. I have been feeling very vulnerable and helpless. That’s never a good thing.
So today, even as I stand up to my knees in the rubble of this chaos, I am taking hold of the reins and pointing this horse and buggy on the path to abundance and gratitude. I logged into SparkPeople. I weighed myself. I put on my Spark activity tracker. I tracked my water and breakfast (even if it was only coffee). I set new weight loss goals. I am breathing deep and going to work.
Brrr, it’s been a chilly New Year so far! The wind chill makes it difficult for me to work on my goal of being more active because I can’t realistically go outside and walk when it gets this cold. Don’t get me wrong, I am not a wimp! I have all the clothing a person needs to be outside in winter and I readily wear it — coat, hat, scarf, gloves, boots — I don’t give a rat’s ass about fashion as long as I am not freezing to death. But when the cold literally takes your breath away, you need to take further precaution and stay inside. When the temperatures rise to -10 or so I will be able to start walking outside no problem.
